I have a thriller that was recently released, Beyond Death. Beyond Death was born from my almost morbid fascination with Vlad Dracula--the real deal not the fictional character created by Bram Stoker.

Vlad Dracula was a Warlord Prince who reigned over Wallachia and then the whole of Romania. Vlad was a vicious, twisted animalistic human being who thrived on torture.

But he also provided freedom and equality among his people. He brought order to a chaotic world and he was considered by many of his people a national hero.

I've often wondered about the truth of the matter when it comes not only to Vlad but to many historical personages. We are offered only certain accounts of what happened in their lifetime.

Was he truly as heinous a villian as history made him out to be or was he a victim of embellished history recorded by his detractors?

Most historical events are slanted by the individuals point of view. We have seen in researching "facts" on certain issues that they were recorded with biased opinions. 

Personally I reserve judgement until all the facts are in. Of course, there's nothing wrong with some creative license...
